Background of the Study

Cloud-based HR systems have transformed talent management by providing scalable, efficient, and centralized platforms for HR functions such as recruitment, employee engagement, and performance management. These systems offer real-time data access, predictive analytics, and automated workflows, enabling businesses to attract, retain, and develop top talent (Eze & Yusuf, 2024).

In Kebbi State, the adoption of cloud-based HR systems among businesses is gradually increasing, driven by the need to optimize HR processes and remain competitive in a dynamic business environment. However, challenges such as limited digital infrastructure and organizational resistance to change persist. This study evaluates the role of cloud-based HR systems in improving talent management practices in the region.

Statement of the Problem

Businesses in Kebbi State often struggle with inefficient and outdated HR practices, leading to challenges in attracting and retaining skilled employees. While cloud-based HR systems offer potential solutions, their adoption and impact on talent management remain underexplored. Understanding these dynamics is critical to enhancing workforce productivity and business competitiveness.

  2. To identify challenges businesses face in adopting cloud-based HR systems.
  3. To explore strategies for optimizing the use of cloud-based HR systems in talent management.

Research Questions

  1. How do cloud-based HR systems impact talent management practices in businesses in Kebbi State?
  2. What challenges do businesses face in adopting cloud-based HR systems?
  3. What strategies can optimize the use of cloud-based HR systems in talent management?

Research Hypotheses

  1. Cloud-based HR systems do not significantly impact talent management practices in businesses in Kebbi State.
  2. Challenges in adopting cloud-based HR systems do not significantly hinder their effectiveness.
  3. Strategies for optimizing cloud-based HR systems do not significantly improve talent management outcomes.

Scope and Limitations of the Study

The study focuses on businesses in Kebbi State that utilize or intend to implement cloud-based HR systems between 2023 and 2025. Limitations include variability in system adoption levels and access to HR data.
